Trying Out Freehostia
In my previous post, I was saying that I intended to check some of the free webhosting packages available on the Net. I will be starting with Freehostia . For people who are concerned with popularity statistics with respect to Google and Alexa, the site has a PR5 and Alexa Rank of 1058.
I am still in the process of checking out, so I will just give just the basics in this post. If there is anything extra to note, I will update in one of the future posts which will a tutorial post, sort of.
Let’s take a look at the general features,
- No setup fee
- No forced ads
- 250 MB data storage
- 5GB monthly bandwidth
We can setup 1 MySQL database with 10 MB each. It supports PHP MyAdmin and Perl. We can use FrontPage also for building websites. And 10 subdomains can be hosted. In addition to this, our own 2 domains can also be hosted using this plan.
The applications offered are various, maybe not as many as paid hosting, but definitely a good number. For installing them, Elefante free scripts Installer is used. I have listed them below,
